Wholestyle Health is an integrative approach to mental health
counseling and lifestyle.

Because of the common ebb and flow of life's challenges we can be left feeling out of balance, overwhelmed, and seeking a change. Sometimes we cope in ways that may not serve our best-self, compromising our relationships, family, physical health, or career. Through an integrative mind-body approach we will explore how these compromised aspects of life impact you as a whole. The Wholestyle Health model is a realistic approach to mental health that allows for the uniqueness of each individual.

Counseling is an interactive and collaborative process that involves considerable effort on the part of both client and therapist. By making the choice to engage in therapy, you have the opportunity to become empowered with tools and strategies to help you expand and grow. Learn new ways to navigate challenge and begin to live an intentional life that you desire.

Rebecca Porter LCPC, HHC

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Instructor providing individual psychotherapy in a private practice setting. I draw primarily from Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness perspectives. This eclectic approach helps clients strengthen self-awareness and insight to assist in personal exploration and change, allowing flexibility in therapy to meet the needs of clients depending on where they may be on their path.

My education includes:
Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Southern Maine.
Certification from the Center for Mindfulness at the University of California San Diego. I currently teach the MBSR program for Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, Maine.
Certification in Holistic Health Counseling from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City.

I have experience working with individuals to improve anxiety, depression, stress reduction, emotion regulation, body image, and attention/focus concerns. I am a genuinely cheerful and friendly soul who is committed to supporting you on this journey.

The psychological process of “being mindful” means intentionally paying attention to the present moment without judgement.

By paying attention on purpose we are able to cultivate a greater awareness that allows us to notice our thoughts, feelings and behaviors associated with our experiences. Observing the present moment without judgment we are letting things be just the way they are, and when we integrate the skill of mindfulness we learn that thoughts are simply thoughts and do not mean anything until we relate and respond to them.

As a Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Instructor, I utilize mindfulness-based cognitive techniques to help clients improve the way they relate to stressors in their lives. Clinical studies support Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) to be an effective approach to reduce depression relapse, and treat other mental health disorders.

Mindfulness sessions offered:
Individual Mindful Cognitive Therapy Program: $750/90 min weekly session (8 weeks)
Individual Mindful Stress Reduction Program: $700/90 min weekly session (8 weeks)
Individual Meditation Instruction: $50/50 min session

MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION (MBSR)

MINDFULNESS-BASED COGNITIVE THERAPY (MBCT)

Please NOTE that the Mindful Cognitive Therapy and Mindful Stress Reduction Programs that are offered through Wholestyle Health are both modified from the MBCT and MBSR programs to meet the needs for an individual rather than group setting.

Finding a counselor that meets your specific needs is key to effective therapy.

It will be helpful to have a sense of what a counseling session with me will be like. During our first few appointments it is beneficial to discuss what brings you to therapy, what is important to you, and who are the important people in your life. During this time I will do my best to help you feel comfortable and safe as you bravely share this personal information with someone new.

We will then start to develop some goals and discuss the ways that I can assist you in this process so that you can get the most from our time together. Our sessions will be interactive conversations, where I will encourage you to self-reflect, and use your inner wisdom to arrive at your own best choices, conclusions and insights.

I invite you to connect with me by phone or email and together we can determine if Wholestyle Health is right for you.

Rates:  Individual psychotherapy $100/50 min session.

Payment: Cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and Paypal.

Insurance Accepted: Currently I am not billing insurance at this time.

Please call the member services of your insurance carrier to see if your benefits include out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health where I can provide you a receipt for services and then you submit to your carrier for your own reimbursement. The following information is important to consider before you make the decision to involve your insurance carrier for reimbursement for your counseling:
Confidentiality: Insurance carriers require some information regarding your reason for treatment before processing your claim. Managed care companies require detailed information about the reason you are seeking treatment, your symptoms, history, family and work life.
Mental Health Diagnosis: Health Insurance is designed to pay for the treatment of illness. Therefore a mental health diagnosis must be provided to the insurance carrier before most companies will pay for your counseling.
Control of Care: Managed care companies use your personal health information to decide if mental health treatment is medically necessary, what types of therapy is approved and how long treatment should continue. The people making these decisions about your treatment often have limited training.
